What is Stress

    Stress affects us all. The human body experiences stress and react to it. Our body can handle little stress but our body cannot handle long-term stress, In long-term stress, our body suffers. Too much stress can make you sick, mentally, emotionally, and physically.

     Stress is a different thing for different people, Some handle it better than others.

    Stress can be positive, like in harmful situations – when u feel threatened, because of a chemical reaction in your body, you act to prevent injury or problems, and you Fight-or-Flight. For example, when you a car comes towards you in a fast way you change your direction quickly or get aside very quickly. Another positive aspect can be seen where stress is motivating you for example, in your exams, stress response may help to stay awake longer and motivate you to work hard and harder. But if you are not getting good relaxation and you are feeling stressed without any relief then this stress is not good for you.

     Stress may contribute to many health problems, such as, obesity, diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and Heart-related problems.

Stress Symptoms:

Stress can affect you in both ways, Physically, Emotionally, and Mentally

Following are some Physical symptoms of stress:

  •  Headaches
  • Aches and pains.
  • Chest pain or a feeling like your heartbeat is racing fast.
  • Trouble in sleeping.
  • Upset stomach or digestive problems
  • Constipation or diarrhoea
  • Weak immune system
  • Fatigue
  • Feeling sick, dizzy or fainting
  • High blood pressure.
  • Muscle aches or pain.
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Panic attacks
  • Blurred eyesight or sore eyes
  • Sweating
  • Sudden weight gain or weight loss
  • Existing physical health problems getting worse

Following are some emotional and mental symptoms of stress: 

  • Sadness.
  • Unable to enjoy yourself
  • Worried or tensed
  • Feeling like your thoughts are racing and you are unable to control and switch off
  • Over-burdened or overwhelmed
  • Panic attacks.
  • Anxiety, angry, impatient or irritability.
  • Uninterested in life
  • Lack in your sense of humor
  • Feeling more emotional than usual.
  • Feeling Neglected or lonely
  • Feeling overwhelmed or on edge.
  • Trouble making decisions, solving problems,
  • Trouble in concentration.
  • Trouble in remembering.
  • Depression.
  • Existing mental health problems getting worse

  

    Don’t ever try to deal with stress by Drinking alcohol or using drugs, overeating, using your phone more, participating in gambling,  or in unhealthy routines because they only can make your situation more worse. Instead, do some exercise, read a book, Yoga, Meditation and change your daily routine in which you are feeling stressed.
